I’ve been on the hunt for new color inspiration for my house these past few weeks. One of my favorite unexpected colors is chartreuse – a color halfway between yellow and green. I love that it has some of the bold cheeriness of yellow, but the green tones make it feel much more sophisticated.

The first room I fell in love with and the current inspiration for our master bedroom is this:

More on this space next week. I’ve been looking for interesting accent colors to incorporate with chartreuse. I love how lively and bright this dining space feels when you mix in turquoise and hot pink.

The colors make both the super contemporary ghost chairs and the more traditional dining table work in one space.

I don’t think I would ever take a color scheme through an entire house the way these homeowners did (follow the link to see the rest of the home on House Beautful), but this combination is so restful for a bedroom. The grays and dusty lavenders are so pretty with the one pop of chartreuse in the artwork. The room is filled with furniture with traditional lines but the colors make it feel quite current.

If you rattled off chartreuse and persimmon as a color pairing to me, my first instinct would be “ew.” However, these two rooms are really lovely and show how the palette can be used in a vintage-inspired space or a modern, minimalist setting.

I think what makes it work so well is the muted Hermes orange is soft enough to act like a neutral. I love the chartreuse on chartreuse accent pillows in the modern space. It adds depth without introducing additional colors.

While white, hot pink, and chartreuse could be a pretty scary combo, this living room is exceedingly elegant. To balance the bold color scheme, all the major furniture pieces are white. Drapes, throw pillows, and flowers are enough to tell the whole color story.

Navy and chartreuse are such a great graphic palette in this bedroom by Porter Design Company. With the whimsical Stray Dog lamps, and boldly patterned headboard, this bedroom has a fun Palm Beach/Florida vibe.

I love this mix of black and white prints with chartreuse accents. This space shows how you can successfully pair cottage architecture with a French upholstered bed in a bold striped pattern. The chartreuse trim on the linens and the tiny accents in the duvet print are just enough to keep the space from feeling stark.

As much as I adore all these fun palettes, in the end simplicity wins out for me. I love clean white rooms with wood tones and chartreuse. I can’t explain why it’s so captivating, but this vignette feels like art to me. There’s such a perfect balance of color, lightness, and warmth in this room. My favorite of the bunch!
